It seems RCA is trying to make some sort of a come back in the consumer electronics marketplace.

That web site has a nice time line of RCA. CED is only mentioned for 1972, while it was under development, and 1981, the year it became available to the public. One factual mistake that I noticed is that CED is listed as being the "world's first consumer color disc video", but in reality, however, laser disc was first on the market in 1978, while CED came out in 1981.
Even if RCA makes a successful come back in the consumer electronics industry, it's still not the same entity which was in business from 1919 to 1986. It's really just foreign companies using the RCA name, possibly just to keep the trademark rights active and not have it lapse in to the public domain. They're not even related to General Electric or Thomson any more. _________________ Let RCA turn your television into Selectavision! |

IIRC, the TED video disc system had color and was introduced in 1975.

And the best they could do was link to someone’s YouTube video of a commercial rather than uploading their own copy from a master tape? _________________ Videodisc and stereo sound- there's no better value around! |
