Porky's CBS/FOX version. Let us know if you want to add the photos of any you're missing and we'll help complete your database with the required photos.
It's probably the only database for the CED's on the net isn't it? It would be cool to make sure it's as complete as possible. I'd suggest going the whole way too and provide photos of the discs that have white and blue caddy variants. The more info the database has, the better. _________________ My Collections https://ibb.co/album/vCk800

Diamonds are forever. I see in the main database Tom has these but both my codes are different.
76476 01423 - common RCA version
This ones VERY strange. It looks like a bar code has been overlayed on top. Yeah, so I wonder if some store back in the day just placed their own barcode right on top. That's kinda what it looks like but man, they did it very, very neatly if that's the case.
11153 8560027 7411153 8 - that's my CBS/FOX version.
Even still though, it looks the first digit "1" and the last "8" belong to the original barcode under, neither of which match Tom's first and last numbers, so I don't get this one at all.

The man with the golden gun
24543-4606-9 CBS/FOX - Tom has a "5" at the end, my version does not.
76476 01452 - the common RCA version. - Tom has a "0" at the end, mine does not.
https://ibb.co/SR1hWGg
https://ibb.co/YDT2h1S
I wonder if Tom can spot the differences? Would that slight variant be an exposed handle at the bottom or something very trivial like that, I'd bet?------- Oh duh, I forgot Tom has photos of his of course. clicking on them, it appears those are both typo's. There is no "5" nor "0" in his barcodes on the discs. Therefore both his copies match mine. _________________ My Collections https://ibb.co/album/vCk800

For your eyes only
My code matches Toms for the less common CBS/FOX version
For the more common MGM/UA version mine is a much shorter code than his:
7464-38328-5
Looking back in the variations link;
https://www.cedmagic.com/home/ced-variations.html
I notice someone found different colored "stereo" writing in I guess what must be the MGM/UA version? Mine, with this bar code has the red writing on both part 1/2.
https://ibb.co/Y0YxV1d
My guess is, Tom's MGM/UA version with it's other barcode will have white?
Edit; never mind this.
I see what does does now, when disc 1 and dic 2 have different codes. He includes the last whole digits at the end, that with the dud "checksum" really threw me off.
In sort; both my versions (MGM/UA) with white and red stereo letters match each other and match toms database.
..............
There's plenty more variants not listed in either of Tom's list. I see them on sites like ebay. Grease comes to mind. There's a very rare version of that out there, where the image is zoomed in. Kinda like the difference between the zoomed in an out versions of For your eyes only.
It would be ideal to have them photoed and all included in the main database list. I'll have my versions properly photoed soon, front and rear. It would be great to complete the database because Tom has done so much and it's already probably 85% to 90% complete I'd guess. That's amazing one man has done that much. He clearly says those are all his barcodes. That's one serious collector! We've got to pitch in and help complete his work, guys!
The reason I see Grease variant is because I've been having a hard time finding a clean copy. I finally found one though and it's on it's way. The rare variant is pricey and is on ebay last I looked currently. Real clean copy too but I wasn't interested in buying a rare variant, so. Maybe someone here has a copy and they could share the code.
What I'll do, when I go to photo my collection front and rear better, I'll compare my codes to Tom as I do them and if I find anymore, I'll post them up here. Next time with the rear photo's showing the barcodes linked too.
For any variants, I'll slide them out of their plastic bags I keep them in, so Tom can add the photos to his main database page if he wants.
It's been rainy here, so I'll probably do this pretty soon. I probably wont have too many. It's only the James Bond and star wars movies I wanted all variants of, so.
Oh, there's two of the rare Grease up now. On a less clean copy I see the code:
37757 01108
What's interesting is, both variants of Grease appear to both be Paramount.
Oh and never mind anyway, Tom has those both recorded anyway hahaha....oh, it is a different code that his "monochromatic" version though because the two currently in this (probably earlier?) style, are both blue cases, unlike Toms, so I just inadvertently found one, just like that.
Then, does this mean my white case and blue case Return of the Jedi share diff codes?....... nope. Those ones match......Then that made me curious about star wars (a new hope) those variants barcodes match too. _________________ My Collections https://ibb.co/album/vCk800

ok. I figured I would just start. I'll work on the photos in and update them in batch latter. While I take the photos though, I'll compare and note any differences and see if there's any typo's with Tom's work too. I'll just keep editing this one post here for simplicity.
In the database there is a typo for DR. NO
Dr. No [CBS] {24543452591}U Side2 IMDb
Dr. No [RCA] {76476014261}C Side2 IMDb
There is no "1" at the end of the barcode for either of these.
Both of mine match Toms actual caddies.
---------
From russia with love. Same is the case for both caddies. Tom has extra digits at the end that do not belong in the database. They are not on my nor his caddies.
From Russia With Love [CBS] {24543456698}U Side2 IMDb
From Russia With Love [RCA] {76476014124}C Side2 IMDb
---------
Goldfinger {76476014100}C Side2 IMDb
There's an extra digit at the end of this one too.
.............
Thunderball is the same way. I'm beginning to suspect Tom must have a reason for adding an extra digit at the end of his barcode database. I'll stop reporting these then. I wonder why they are there and I wonder why they are all random? But anywho, no matter. I'm sure he has a good reason.
EDIT: yup. I should have read first. It's for the site and says to ignore it right at top hahaha.
On a side note, for those who will find interesting, I see in the barcode there is a set of extra digits for 2 part discs. On a part 1 of a 2 disc set, there is a "10" at the top right of the barcode and "20" in the same place for part two. Just an interesting observation is all.
..........
I'm still missing you only live twice CBS/FOX version. This is the only one missing to complete my whole set. I see Tom has both of these.
........
Ah. I see what the deal is with my Diamonds are forever, it has TWO stickers one on top of the other of different sizes over what's probably, or undoubtedly the factory barcode under them all. Well, I'm not finding anything then so far am I? lol
Well I'll keep looking. If I find another like Alien, that Tom doesn't have up yet, I'll get another photo and post it's link too. I'm getting better photos of my collection, if nothing else. _________________ My Collections https://ibb.co/album/vCk800

Cannonball Run, The {25757113773}C Side2 IMDb
This one appears to have the complete wrong barcode entered. I compared to mine, saw it was way off, then compared to Tom's rear label and his photo shows the same barcode as mine which is 28485-06001
Oh I see what he did. He entered that for Cannonball run 2.
Cannonball Run II {28485060012}R Side2 IMDb
I haven't found a copy of this yet. This is one of my originals I used to have as a kid but lost it, so I can't compare it's barcode but I suspect he simply mixed these two up.
Hey if anyone has a nice clean copy of Cannonball Run II they would be willing to sell, hit me up would ya?
Oh man, the memories watching that one. Cheesy 80's movies but man was that so cool as an 80's kid to watch! I must of watched that one a hundred times lol. _________________ My Collections https://ibb.co/album/vCk800

So I got interested, I know, I know, I'm really nerding out here lol. It's fun what can I tell ya? Well anywho, while doing up my photos, I got to looking at this one again:
For Your Eyes Only (2)** [UA] [stereo logo in white] {Joseph Kearse}
For Your Eyes Only (2)** [UA] [stereo logo in pink] {Joseph Kearse}
https://www.cedmagic.com/home/ced-variations.html
I noticed it just wasn't red or white. The red discs also happen to have small writing by the word "stereo". I was busy taking the photos and not thinking much of it, but I just took a revisit and got curious.
I took an upclose photo and cropped it so you can see:
So the discs themselves are different inside! How cool is that? The red labels are not simply a production run flaw or shortage of ink or some random act by accident, the red label discs have some sort of "state of the art" (for it's time lol) of noise reduction.
Well, I say the discs are different but who knows? Maybe they all have this "CX noise reduction" anyway and it's just a label added to claim it, but why?
Reading WIKI, it looks like it might have become standard in CED's by '81?
Were these discs produced at different times and here with this particular movie this was the changeover year for this addition to discs? Who knows, I'm just speculating but why go out of your way to created a devoted label just for it then, if the (perhaps) earlier white label already had "CX noise reduction"? See what I'm saying?
.........
CX is a noise reduction system for recorded analog audio. It was developed by CBS Laboratories (a division of CBS) in the late 1970s as a low-cost competitor to other noise reduction (NR) systems such as dbx disc and High-Com II, and was officially introduced in 1981.[1][2][3][4] The name CX was derived from "Compatible eXpansion", a feature of the technique.[4]
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CX_(noise_reduction)
Oh that wont link ^ just google:
CX noise reduction
the wiki link comes right up.
My Red label;
https://i.ibb.co/FX5hygS/James-Bond-12-For-Your-Eyes-Only-MGM-UA-Red-Stereo-Disc-2.jpg
My White label (pay no mind to the sticker at the top. A rental store put that there.)
https://i.ibb.co/Pwydhfd/James-Bond-12-For-Your-Eyes-Only-MGM-UA-White-Stereo-Disc-2.jpg
Ok I took another closer look, curious about my theory white = early - red = latter.
........nope. My bad. Two dates near each other tricked me.
All 4 caddies say
copyright symbol - 1981
package in 1982
An interesting side note is, I see the 3rd variant of this movie, the CBS/FOX shares the same copyright of '81 but has a package copyright of '83. Irrelevant, I just figured I'd look.
I see no "CX" symbol anywhere on the other caddies. _________________ My Collections https://ibb.co/album/vCk800

Thanks for posting all the pictures of your collection! The title list also includes the UPC check sum digit with each listing:
http://cedmagic.com/home/upc.html
To search the database use Ctrl-F to bring up the search function in your browser, and then search for the last few digits of the UPC. For example, searching for "03039" highlights the "Starring Mr. Magoo" title. |

sorry to bust your bubble CEDCollector, but the other Mr. Magoo is on the list. If you search the number you provided (7647603039), "Starring Mr. Magoo, Vol. 1 {76476030391} U" appears. There is also a topic on alternate title and caddy variations on the forum. _________________ (2)Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350), sft100, sgt250, sjt 090-400, vp550, VDR3000, VP2000 & 4000

Hi guys. That doesn't burst my bubble SelectaVision lol I just didn't see it. I didn't think to look under "staring" MR. Magoo. That's handy knowing you can search using the UPC.
Hey, I found the thread with some different variants in it, SelectaVision. Thanks!
http://www.cedmagic.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2152
No mention of the different Christine label there though.
It doesn't surprise me to see so many others listed though since I found a few just in the few movies I have. Some interesting ones there, I hadn't seen for sale yet too, or didn't notice anyway.
The story with the Secret of NIMH there with the CX encoding of one version, makes me curious now if the red version of for your eyes only suffered the same fate and if it's side two got cut like the Secret of NIMH.
Most likely not, but curious, just the same. Not curious enough to try plugging in my player I've had since the 80's, seeing if it still works, finding a converter to get it hooked up an HD tv curious though haha. _________________ My Collections https://ibb.co/album/vCk800
