I want to do the genesis controller mod on my ced player but i dont know what an “f/g” ced player is to know if i can do the mod or not. I have a sears ced player that is a goldish color. does not look like the sears ones and has a side loading stylus. |

I meant to say it didnt look like rca model. It is a Sears 934.54810350 that is the equivalent to a hitachi vip2000. |

An "f/g" player is shorthand for an RCA SFT/SGT player or their clones like the Zenith.
As you noted, your Sears player is a Hitachi clone, and its electronics are completely different that the SFT/SGT players, so you would not be able to use the mod on your machine. |

I will just have to wire directly to the buttons and put a diode on the ground and 5v (if i can find a 3.3-5v output) for some, although minimal protection |
