I have an sjt-200 and the function motor seems to be crap so I replaced it with one I got it did absolutely nothing. Literally it didn't move in any way when connected to player but it would work when out of player and tested with a 9v battery. I then took a function motor from an sjt-100 which seemed fine but it is also super slow in the player and seems too week to overcome the springs that hold the caddy latches? I can send video . Does any one know what might be wrong? _________________ I dont own

Test the power leads in the player coming to the function motor with a voltmeter. Do you have the proper voltage? |

I don't want to assume anything and be very wrong, what would be the correct way to test the voltage with my multimeter? _________________ I dont own

If it's supposed to be DC volts, you set your meter on DC, on the lower reading of say, 50v or 100v max settings.
then touch the two meter pins to the motor power leads disconnected from the motor with the player on and no disc loaded. (this is when the power should be hot and piped to the motor)
If the meter reads below ZERO, then you have the pins on the wrong wires and need to flip them.
See what voltage reading you get and compare it to what is correct for the motor. If it's too low, as I suspect, that's why the motor isn't working properly. If it's correct, then the moving parts for loading the disc are creating friction or binding up somehow, I'd say. |

So the function motor determines how the player takes the disc out? _________________ SGT-250

If the motor is too weak or died it wont push the disc all the way in to play disc or return it to caddy _________________ I dont own

Yep and, as with all DC motors, if it gets less voltage than it should have, it runs slower and is weaker. |

My SJT400 got to where it wasn't "clicking" whn it took a disc in, and of course the disc came right back out with it. Someone, (Ryan or Rick) said to try a new belt, I ordered the belt and the motor while I was at iit I replaced the belt, and it does fine on 99% of the discs, then on one or two discs, it still refuses to take a couple of them. _________________ SGT-250

Yeah, that will happen with a few discs that have release holds & latches a little worn and they don't get snagged tightly to let the latch fully release. |
