Ok, I know Needles are becoming short supply, and thus will be getting pretty expensive. Is there a way I can clean the needle in my SJT300 player to extend the life of the needle for as long as possible?

At the very least you should make sure the cleaning pad is intact and itself clean - it is located at the very front of the machine. With the unit off inch the stylus arm forward by rotating the 2nd reduction gear, and once it has cleared a significant ways look into the machine and under the front panel. You should see a little dark brown square. Often dusty.

Thanks so much for the info. I knew there was a cleaner in there, I just wanted to know exactly where it was and what it looked like. I don't think the styli are in short supply though, CEDatum rebuilds them, and for 8 bucks he will clean yours and make sure the lead wire is connected. I have 3 styli for my SGT250 and 3 for my SJT300 & SJT400. All of them have been inspected by CEDatum. If you only have one, I would advise on getting a spare, especially if you use it a lot. If memory serves, CEDatumm charges like 8 bucks to inspect and clean one, and 35 bucks to rebuild one. CEDpro also sells them. I think for around 45 to 50 bucks for his.

Good Luck!!!

Scott

I have tried several different solutions trying to clean a stylus, not much luck. Fortunately John at CEDatum can clean them.
