looking through my collection i noticed that i have several discs with rca property stamps, personally i love this, but my question is, would you pass over a disc if it had this stamp on it?
i actually am seeking discs with rca stamps on them, but only if its a disc i want in my library. if you have a disc with a stamp on it and want to trade for one that doesn't let me know! _________________ (2)Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350), sft100, sgt250, sjt 090-400, vp550, VDR3000, VP2000 & 4000

Doesnt that stamp mean they put the movie on the record?? (Or they are the distributer of it) |

no they are discs that were used internally by workers, and most likely given to them after a period of time. technically they arent for sale to public, but they are probably titles pulled at random off the line and given to workers to take home and test... _________________ (2)Sears 274 & 934(80150,10&11350), sft100, sgt250, sjt 090-400, vp550, VDR3000, VP2000 & 4000

The RCA disc pressing plant was at 7900 Rockville Road, Indianapolis. The plant kept a library of CED videodiscs. Employees could take the discs home and were expected to comment on the disc when they returned them. Discs were generally taken from the first title production run so the quality of pressings were very good. The stamp reads: RCA Property. Not to be sold, rented or copied. For employee use only. And there was a paper library sticker on the disc with the library number. For example: L11324-4 ( this one is Daffy Ducks Fantastic Island.)
When the CED pressing plant was closed most of the discs were given to employees. There are still many employee stamp discs in central Indiana.

Not quite the same thing, and not from an employee lending library. What you have is a promo record that the company sent to the radio station free of charge for airplay. Some promos (not all) were higher quality pressings than the general releases. Probably the most sought-after promos were mono issues sent to AM radio stations in the late '60s or early '70s for albums that were only commercially released in stereo. "Sticky Fingers" by the Stones is a good example. |
