I love this movie like crazy and I am wondering if anyone has this on VD??
I cannot find a clean copy of this on VHS,i can only find "DIGITALLY PROCESSED" copies which look like crap!!!!!!! (Well I have found some VHS copies that ARE CLEAN but they are in PAL format and I dont know if my player will play them (Or play them well if it does))
Im wondering if someone has a CLEAN copy of this movie IN ANALOG,could you make a copy to VHS for me and send it my way please?? (Just hook your VD player to your VCR's RF input and make a copy in SP mode )
I think its very interesting THEY ONLY DO THIS TO MOVIES IN THE USA!!!!!! (Movies going overseas they dont ruin like this (Movies in PAL format for example (Some are but most ARE NOT!!) .. Pisses me off))
Thanx for any help guys! (Even finding a clean NTSC vhs copy would be nice!!)

I think what's better for you is that you get a CED player and start collecting the CEDs and get the Goonies CED for yourself. If you are an analog purist, that's probebly what you'll eventually want to do. It's a better experience to get the CED and play that than to play a generation removed VHS made from a CED.
You don;t have to get the most expesnive model to do this, a simple SFT 100 or SJT 090 or 100 would do. |

This is HARD movie to find!!! I don't know if it's rare or if it's just rarely traded but it took me years to get a copy. I think I seen like in total 3 or 4 sell on ebay in the last few years and I bought the only one I ever saw with a decent label! Not mint, but actually pretty darn good! Close enough for my "near mint" collection, that I'm building. The previous ones were real low grade copies. My guess is, for whatever reason RCA didn't press too many of these. Very strange, given this was a very, very popular movie in the day. It's possible people are just not selling them and they're getting collected by collectors in general, not just CED collectors and this is why we never see them. It "seems" like I only see one a year come up on ebay. That's as rare as hens teeth, considering ebay is nation wide full of sellers of CED's.
Look in my collection photos and someone tell me, if they've ever seen such a clean label of one before? (it's the second link in signature) It's still not as nice as I'd like (and I'd pay good to upgrade it!) but it's by far the best I've ever seen by a landslide, even with it's pretty decent sized tear on the front and other flaws.
Wait a sec, can't I just link directly to it also:

Yeah there we go. ^ Has anyone ever seen such a clean label of the goonies before? It was sold just as another random CED by a non collector, no doubt, and I scored it for 15 bucks that's w/ shipping! haha. Can't even find another like it. I've never seen one at least. _________________ My Collections https://ibb.co/album/vCk800

I think by the time Goonies came out most people had dumped the CED format in favor of VHS so RCA probably pressed less copies. That and the fact it was a very popular film people probably watched it a lot and wore a lot of them out, especially rental copies. And as you said people don't want to give it up. They show up from time to time but are usually very expensive. It's not out of the realm to ask $50 to $100 for a good playing clean copy.
Your copy looks great by the way CED Collector. I think Scott has the most mint one I've ever seen. He sold it to me once but then couldn't live without it so I returned it to him. I think I've got two copies at the moment but not sure on that. It's always wise to keep a backup of your favorites. |

Look what I found!
It is sealed and it appears to be a factory seal.
The CED/STEREO sticker doesn't belong to it. As you can see, someone roughly cut it off what was likely a worn out seal. It was included in a bundle of other stuff I bought. I finally found a cool place for it.
Do you guys suppose my collection is the largest "near mint collection" (as in caddy and label condition) in existence by now? I beginning to suspect it more than likely is. Not that it's a competition, I just got thinking, I wonder if anyone else is collecting based on label condition? I'm sure many are collecting based on actual disc condition, for those who play theirs. If not, don't do it! My god, it's too tedious and expensive. I wouldn't do it again lol but I'm proud of it now. A handful still need upgrades. I'm in too deep to give up now haha.
Edit may, 27. 2024:
I forgot to mention, although all my prices are listed with my photos (click the front label of any of my movies twice in my CED album, found in my signature, and scroll down),
I stole this copy! An ebay seller listed it buy it now and I happened to see it fist. My total with shipped was $73.63
I also noted there, I believed the true value to be around $200. After seeing the following auction, that sold yesterday, I don't know it's true value anymore. _________________ My Collections https://ibb.co/album/vCk800

A sealed copy of the Goonies sells May 26, 2024 for US $1,276.51!!!!!

Until the ebay link expires:

I'm not too sure that's a factory seal either. The reason is, there appears to be aged "grime" on the label. Over the years as I collect, I've been taking glass cleaner and spraying all my labels, letting it set for couple minutes and then lightly wiping away and this cleans the hand oil and dirt away. Looking over this copy, I see a lot of this grime where the label isn't busted open, indicating to me, this is probably a reseal. An older one, but I suspect this a reseal not a factory seal.
It's STILL a super clean label overall which is VERY, VERY rare for this movie on CED.
Will the buyer actually pay? Will it be returned? Is even a factory sealed copy (like mine appears to be) even worth north of a grand?
If this sale is legit and the buyer pays, this will probably be a new record, not just for this title, but I mean for any CED disc?
I will say, as a gen X CED collector, although I wouldn't have payed this much..... I understand it. This movie was massive to us 80's kids. Nostalgia is very powerful and if you can afford it and there's likely only a handful (if that - forget the seal even, I just mean this clean!) in existence, then why not? _________________ My Collections https://ibb.co/album/vCk800
